Leoni Rivers is a member of the Squamish Nation and is a Gitxsan member of the Wilp, (House Group) Hanamuxw. Leoni’s Gitxsan name is Ksigegiasu (challenging the Chiefs and making them accountable). Leoni belongs to the Fireweed Clan. The Gitxsan are a matrilineal society and the Wilp is the social and governance unit.
Leoni’s expertise is in Indigenous negotiations, engagement, and consultation on major projects. Leoni has been the Indigenous lead on several major projects in the Indigenous communities in BC, Alberta, and the Yukon. Leoni is an excellent innovative negotiator, Indigenous advisor, and visionary of excelling business development.
Leoni holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Canadian Studies and Physical Education from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She also has a Diploma in Public Sector Management from the University of Victoria (UVic) and a Certificate in Administration of Indigenous Governments from UVic.
